In addition to the schedule of events for the Conference weekend, Team Marine Parents™ invites you to participate in three morning activities. Two of these activities take place Friday morning before conference registration at noon. So early arrivers, grab your tennis shoes and favorite USMC shirt and suit up!
The events are open to anyone wanting to participate: Team Marine Parents is not just for athletes! We want everyone to be able to join in fun events that allow us to participate as a team. Please join us no matter what your fitness level.
To join in a discussion on the events or to ask questions, please see: www.usmcparents.com/forum
Plan ahead for comfort during the Team Marine Parents events. Bring whatever running/walking shoes and clothing appropriate to what you will participate in. Perhaps pack an umbrella in case of rain.
Friday Morning 5:40 am -7:15 am ~ “Walk to the Window”
This is a 5-minute walk to Channel 5! KSDK Channel 5 has a morning show where folks stand outside the broadcast window with signs during the morning news show, similar to the Today Show in New York.
We invite the early risers to join us in a five-block uphill walk from the conference hotel. KSKD has offered to interview Marine Parents regarding the conference and events going on that weekend. Participants should dress warmly in USMC attire & bring signs for the morning show. Be LOUD & PROUD!
Everyone is invited to attend. Please meet in the hotel lobby, located at the main entrance at 5:30 a.m.. The group will leave for the walk at 5:40 to be in place at 5:50 a.m. Be prepared to stay until 7:10 a.m.
Friday Morning 9:30 am ~ “Roam the Riverfront”
Friday morning will provide some time to explore the area at your leisure before conference registration begins at noon. “Find it on the Landing” brochures will be provided to you upon check-in at the hotel. Please meet in the hotel lobby at 9:20 a.m. for departure at 9:30. We encourage you to find a few walking buddies to explore with.
Laclede's Landing is located across the street from the Adam's Mark Hotel, near the base of the arch. The nine-block industrial area that once housed companies producing coffee, leather goods, mattresses, tobacco, whiskey, candy and machinery for the barges, features some of the most unique restaurants and sidewalk cafes in Saint Louis. Visitors to Laclede's Landing can experience the charm of cobblestone streets and century old brick and cast iron facade buildings as they browse through specialty gift shops.
Saturday Morning 6:00 am ~ “Run at the Arch”
If you have more of an adventurous nature, please join us for the “Run at the Arch” on Saturday morning. This will be an approximate one-and-a-half mile run (20-30 minutes maximum) led by Team Marine Parents™ Corporal Neil Schalk and St. Louis Recruiting offices commanding office, Major Payne. Major Payne will also be "inviting" his poolies to the 1 1/2 mile run. If you don’t wish to run that far, please join us to run long as you can.
*Sign up for this event at the Team Marine Parents™ Exhibit on Friday. Meet for the run in the hotel lobby, located at the main entrance at 5:50 Saturday a.m.
